Class 6 Holders

Where Freedom Begins

Whether you are newly licensed or have been riding for years, it’s nice to dust off cobwebs or take it back to basics and practice the foundational skills.  We will go through the techniques needed to execute maneuvers at low and intermediate speeds with emphasis on smooth machine control. Then as  the police and EMS do, we focus our attention on bike control in emergencies and the decision making process needed in these situations by refreshing collision avoidance, controlled optimum braking and trail braking

  • Hold a valid Class 6 licence and be a minimum of 16 years of age. Parental waiver will be required for those under aged in Alberta.
  • Your own bike.  All types of machines are acceptable but must be in good working condition, with a full tank of gas, no fluid leaks, tires and brakes in excellent condition.
  • Valid registration and insurance.
  • Your own safety gear: helmet (full-faced is recommended), boots, gloves, jacket (leather or synthetic recommended), pants (leather or synthetic recommended, Chaps are acceptable in the course).

It should be understood that although we try hard to prevent it, it is possible that you could fall during these exercises and your motorcycle could sustain damage. You need to be willing to accept this risk.

The refresher course takes place at the south east parking lot of McMahon Stadium.  5:46pm-10:00pm

2019 Dates: May 10, 17, Jun 7, 14

Riding off road has a totally different skill set than is used on pavement.  If you want to be more comfortable riding on gravel roads this is the course for you.

This course will teach you the necessary skills you need to practice to be confident off road.

The day begins by meeting at Good Earth Creekside in NW Calgary and then ride to a private training facility with our friends at Hidden Trail Adventures.  We spend 6 hours on learning what to practice followed by a ride down highway 40 through Water Valley then back to Symons Valley Coop Gas Station for some gas before going home.

This course includes the option to consult with Don at Universal Cycle regarding bike setup. So you can prepare you and your bike for the challenges of off road riding.

All you need is a street legal Dual Purpose motorcycle, proper riding gear and a full tank of gas.

If you do not have an offroad capable bike.  We do have DR650 available for rent.
